Big piles of paper can be scary…

But little piles are manageable!

4 Tips for Managing Paper Clutter.

We all know that we are moving towards a paper less society, but we are not there yet. There are still piles of paper that come in the mail and if you don’t have a place to put them it can become overwhelming. Creating a filing systems, for your action items, important documents and a space for items you don’t want to throw away, but you also don’t want to save them forever. I call that file “time will tell”.

Here are 4 ideas of how to separate all your paper clutter.

1. Trash, Recycle, Shred

2. To do/ Action item

3. To file

4. Time will tell...(indecision items)

As the paper comes into your home separate it into these 4 difference categories. Throw away, shred, or recycle what you don’t want right away.

Sort what needs your attention right away, put that into your action file.

Important documents like insurance papers, birth certificates are to be filed safely, so you know where they are and are easy for you to access them when you need them.

Lastly create a time will tell file, this file is for papers that come in the mail that you want to look into further, but you don’t want to save the information forever and you also don’t want it living on your counter.

As paper comes into your home try sorting them right away into these 4 categories. This will help keep a well organized and clutter free home.

Give it a try today, no more big scary piles of paper on your counters.
