A few questions to ask yourself…

De-cluttering is not always easy.

If we have the right questions to ask ourselves while de-cluttering, it can make the entire process easier!

As you go through your home and start the de-cluttering process here are a few questions to ask yourself as you come across things that you think you may need but are unsure. By working through these questions, you’ll be able to start de-cluttering, get rid of the excess, and start creating the home and space that you’re really striving towards.

  1. Would I buy it again? If it’s not a clear YES, then it’s a NO.

  2. Do I need this item?

  3. Can I create multiple outfits with this piece?

  4. Is it comfortable and functional for my lifestyle?

  5. Do I feel confident and happy when wearing this?

  6. Does it fit me well?

  7. Do I use it?

  8. Do I love it?

  9. Have I used this item in the last year?

  10. Will I realistically use and wear this in the future?

  11. Am I keeping it out of guilt?

  12. Do I have a similar item that serves the same purpose?

  13. Why do I feel like I need to keep it?

  14. Am I holding on to this for sentimental reasons? If it’s a sentimental item, can I display it? Repurpose it? Digitally archive it?

  15. Could someone else use it or love it more?

  16. If someone gave me money would I part with it?

For most people, de-cluttering isn’t something we do once and we’re done forever.

It’s a lifestyle change.

Making a shift mentality and start considering some of these questions before you allow new items into your home, may help you maintain a clutter free lifestyle.

Ask yourself what your end goal is. Do you want to create more space or storage or breathing room in your home. If the answer is YES, then you have to part with some things in order to achieve your goal.

You can do it, try de-cluttering one room at a time, or one drawer at a time.
